What is a QR code?

They are typically used for marketing purposes, and can be found on flyers, product labels, posters, and other printed media.

Luckily, you don’t need expensive equipment or expensive software in order to create your own QR code. All you need is a computer and this free tool!
How to create your own QR code
Creating your own QR code is really quite easy. All you have to do is enter in the information you want to put into the QR code, and this free tool will generate the code for you!
Then, enter in your information into the text boxes that appear on the next screen under “Your QR Code Text”. The first text box is for your website address, followed by a title and a description of what’s on your site.
If you would like to add more information or links to other pages within your website, simply leave those boxes blank and add them in later.
Once you’ve completed entering all of your information, click on “Generate QR Code” at the bottom of the page and a QR code will pop up on your screen! You can then save or print out this image and use it wherever it's needed.>>
Choose your design style
There are three basic design styles for QR codes:
● Simple or text-based style
● Image-based style
● Mixed, which has both text and images.
Here are some tips to help you decide which type of QR code to use:
● Text-based code is the most commonly used design style.
● Image-based designs are more eye-catching, but can’t be scanned by all smartphones that use a camera. If you have a QR code on an advertisement, it needs to be in the right spot so the audience can scan it with their phones.
● Mixed designs have both text and pictures, which makes it easier for people to be able to scan the code.
Select the right type of QR code
There are many different types of QR codes you can use, the most popular of which is the "tracking code." This type of QR code will give you access to information about where your QR code had been scanned, how many times it had been scanned, and how far it had traveled.
Another type of QR code is a "direct link" code. This type of QR code will take you directly to a website or download page. This is great if you want to provide your audience with an easy way to find out more information about your business.
The final type we'll cover in this post is the "call-to-action" code. This type of QR code can be placed on posters and other printed material and will allow someone using it to click through and complete a desired action
The right type of QR code depends largely on what your goals are for promoting your business with them!
Add text and/or an image to your QR code
The most basic thing you can do with a QR code is add text and/or an image. This is the easiest way to create a QR code with nothing more than a computer and a web browser. Let’s say you want to create an ad for your business’s new website launch.
All you need to do is design the website’s URL in your favorite graphics program, save it as an image file, then upload that image file into this tool. You could also just type out the URL if you don’t have access to any graphics software.
Type in the URL of your website, click "Create QR Code," and there you have it! It's that simple.
